Williams Act

What is the Williams Act?

All schools in California are affected by laws that are the result of the Williams lawsuit settlement. Known as the "Williams legislation," the laws seek to ensure that all students have equal access to the basics of a quality education: textbooks, safe and decent school facilities and qualified teachers.

As a reminder to parents, during distance learning schools are in compliance with the Williams Act because students have access to online textbooks. Consumables will be sent home as soon as they arrrive at schools and parents have the ability to request hardcopies of the textbooks.

When updating your Annual Infomation on Q Parent Portal, please be sure to mark that your child's school is meeing the Williams Act.
